Genius School is a Authorised School for the IB Middle Years Programme.
One of the most important features of the IB MYP Programme is the exploration of areas that have global significance that create opportunity for children to stretch the width and depth of knowledge to develop better understanding of human, physical and non-physical world around them.
Community Project:
Service and action-oriented learning is one of the major highlights of Genius MYP, which encourages students to identify a need in their community and plan service with an objective of making substantial impact. To achieve this, Genius school involves its MYP students in regular and monitored service-learning activities. The MYP culminates in ninth grade at Genius school which is marked by a student led service-learning project called Community Project. This culminating project requires students to identify a community with needs, plan service actions, document progress and achievements, reflect, evaluate and present their service-learning outcomes to the wide community audience.
Our Approaches
Knowledge with no Boundary:
In each grade of Genius, learning is not only dependent on text books; instead, they are used as reference materials as per need. Teachers carefully design age appropriate, relevant, challenging and globally significant content in collaboration with children and pedagogical leadership team and explore them in depth using a variety of media. Internet research, observation, field trips, experimentation, expert interviews, investigation, library research etc. are some of the ways children explore the curriculum.
Bigger and Better Understanding:
Learning activities at Genius are designed to allow children to thoroughly investigate, examine, reflect upon and construct their own meaning. Flexible learning timetablesare set so that children get ample time to work on subject at hand using various methods and develop lasting conceptual understanding. In another word, children at Genius not only learn facts but also use them as ladder to get a bigger picture and better understanding of the world around them.
Skill Oriented Engagements:
Our teachers are well equipped to create opportunities for children to acquire and hone skills that help them become better learner and prepare for the real-world experience outside the classroom. Underpinning the IB philosophy, we ensure that children learn ‘how to learn’.
Process not Product:
We truly value education as a journey of self-exploration more than a destination. What children learn in the process of learning is instrumental in developing reasoning, questioning and thinking minds that can solve the real-world problems of today and tomorrow. Our teachers involve learners in discussion, experimentation, debate, sharing, questioning, hypothesizing etc. to help them create knowledge that children themselves can understand and have a sense of ownership to.
Action:
The ultimate objective of any kind of learning is met when learners take action based on their learning. We envision students taking meaningful actions as the outcome of their learning. Learners at Genius are facilitated design and render service to the immediate community as per newly acquired knowledge and skills.
